Can I Test My Water Myself?

You've probably seen the tests you can purchase at a hardware store, or offers in the mail.


Here's the problem.  Water samples need to be collected in certain ways.  For example: 

  • Some tests need to have cold water run for a few minutes before 
  • Some tests need "first draw", meaning no water having run through that tap for 24 hours
  • Gloves should always be worn
  • Some samples only last a short time before the sample is ineligible 
  • Samples are easy to contaminate!
  • Different samples require differe
